The guy had his hands off the handlebars. Granny was wearing a bright red top and moving at the speed of a 92 year old. She obviously stepped out when it was unsafe to do so, but perhaps the reason he didn't see her is because he wasn't paying attention.
When you are driving your car, you are not stuck IN traffic - you ARE the traffic!!!

I am old and i would have and could have seen her and easily haved stopped or swerved in that situation but probably not if my hands were not on the bars like his were...i just wonder if he was texting or something as he was very obviously not looking ahead.... poor old lady...things like that can be killers of elderly people even if they survive the initial incident... i know he was supposedly devasted by what happend but regardless of how she crossed the road he obviously did not take sufficient care and was riding in a dangerous manner... he needs to be charged and would hope he has or will be..
