Been up and running the last month odd, nice to have the lanes during peak periods
Definitely feel better riding North in the arvos, although it dosnt seem to stop drivers from driving in the lane
Not sure if its a fineable offence? Lanes do say 'Bus Lane' and the signs every few hundred meters are marked with Bus/Taxi/Cycle but the PTA website calls them 'priority' instead of 'only'
I know its nothing new, ie drivers driving in bus lanes, either way its nice to have through that section, lots of impatient drivers dying to get out of the city.

Assuming they are marked in a similar manner to Beaufort Street they are legitimate bus lanes. As such it is an offence under reg 133 of the Road Traffic Code 2000 to drive in them (when operative and subject to reg 136). The penalty is 3 Demerit Points and a fine of 2 Penalty Units.
They are probably unwisely and confusingly referred to as 'Bus Priority Lanes' because their function is to provide 'priority' along a route, however, how they are referred to does not affect what they are - legally enforceable Bus Lanes.
