This is a great eventI thought it clashed with TT'ing. It doesnt. Oh cool.
The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is its engine.

Stunning day, loved the new venue. I helped Mr Vesparazzi out with the bike portraits which are online now

I did some more of the Giro d'Perth route that I couldn't do on the day last Saturday. The event was good, but some of the directions are a bit vague. Will be doing it again.

... and another section in reverse today. Brisbane Street Perth to Summers Street East Perth via Mt Lawley & Maylands. Local knowledge determined the reverse route, have ridden up East St Maylands before.
Does anyone have the previous years' maps and directions? I would be interested in having a go at them also.

I think I kept maps from every year, might be able to get pdf versions from Mr Vesperazzi if we ask nicely.
Did anyone else get the news though? .. Giro d'Perth is finito, if you rode this year you rode the last one! Email arrived this arvo -

link if you want read the whole sign off. Very sad, I loved this little non competitive journey of discovery around Perth's older suburbs. I met Toby (Mr Vesperazzi) through my Flickr posts of the first edition and we've become friends. I know that part of the decision to end GdP has be due to his enthusiasm for his other baby, The Beverley Heroic. He has kindly credited me providing some of the inspiration for the Beverley event, but all the hard work that has gone into it has been his.I have sad news, there will be no Giro d Perth in 2018.
I have thought long and hard and decided on doing some personal exploring. New odyssey's are calling me.

Yeah, i opened that email today. A real pity. The idea of encouraging the cycling flaneur, exploring one's own town is so appealing.
