Is Warbrook Rd through Gnangara rideable?

Postby owly » Tue Jul 17, 2018 11:11 am

I'm looking on Google Earth at the east/west stretch running through the bush. A wide sandy road.

Wondering just how packed down that white sand is?

Would be on a 48mm-2.0" tyre.

Have done a lot of survey work through there over the years and the main haul roads which i think Warbrook is one off are hard packed limestone. There may be sections that have broken through. A lot of the network tracks are sand which are very soft. Some really nice bush out there especially Ellenbrook side which the new North Link HWY has probably taken out.
I would ride a weekday as you get some real mad max morons in there on the weekends.

Went through today (Sun.) and it wasn't pretty. Coming in from the west, Warbrook is pretty lumpy and sandy though firm enough.
Did some exploring down some narrower limestone roads which mainly ran north/south. Those were fairly smooth in places; nice to ride on. Would be good to know where they all are through there, to avoid the sandy roads.

Just a couple of 4WD's out there. I think the motorbikes tend to congregate toward the southern end so they're not tearing up the tyres on the limestone.

Good to have the nor-west coming back along the hills.
