Dodges Ferry/Carlton saw cyclists here, there, and everywhere today. Much strava talk took place, and I suspect a couple of participants might have gone home to plan some record attempts.
Every day is "Thursday" in Dodges Ferry :D

It appears to be more than a rumour that the Mighty DFBTR Dictator Paul B, may be temporarily 'off line' in the short term. I hope I speak for all who have witnessed his might deeds, when I wish him a speedy return to velo-awesomeness (if I can get this, my first post, to work).

A depleted field for the DFBTR this week, particularly with the absence of Dictator Paul B. Nevertheless, a sunny, dry, cool, windless morning in Dodges, was way too good to waste. A straightforward ride to Primrose Sands, and return via Sugarloaf saw the peloton set a pretty languid pace. Pretty uneventful. One honk from a motorist - Friend? Foe? Dunno! The usual serenity at the Bakery upon completion of 50 kms. - Andrew T. P.S. Apologies to Paul A, whom I contacted prior to the ride, to inform him of my certain non attendance for the ride. I didn't anticipate that I would be able to bribe my wife. $1.00 per km, pretty good value. To the rest; too bad. If I have to put up with me, so can you. :x

Thanks for the thought guys. Yep, will be out of action as I undergo a year long drug programme that may ... or may not result in restoration to good health. Hopefully once I settle into treatment I will be able to enjoy some short easy rides.

DFBTR was had at an ideal temperature this morning.........the temperature at which one might find champagne enjoyable :D

A mid ride break for coffee was had at the Sorell Mens Shed. Did you know that you can have endless coffee four days per week for $2 per week. :D
Note that I did not use the words "good" and "coffee" in the same sentence  .

Oh for a real cappuccino machine :)

..............and then the ride continued....................to.....................Dodges Ferry of course :D

Today "T" stood for "Tuesday", and off we went :D

7.30am was cool , not as in "cool baby", more as in "coold sport"!

Ah,well, the ride home was nicely warm. :D :D :D :D :D :D

A fine day in the east for DFBTR this morning. I started alone, but was overhauled by 3 latecomers heading up Scenic Drive. The pace was comfortable , and the company polite. That should be a warning sign :D
Coffee at the Halfway House, a good debate, and homeward bound. The sprint onto Iron creek was a beauty, with Redheeler taking the honours :?
Must have been laced coffee, as the victorious heeler seemed to be heading in the opposite direction to the second placegetter.............

Oh.............how the DFBTR grabs the imagination

Yeah sure its not technically Thursday (Tuesday), and Ok I am actually not a bunch, and fine I did not really start from Dodges Ferry today, but this thread was looking a bit rusty and in need of some activity, so here it is. The initial plan to head up venerable Mt Wellington to catch the National Road Series Time Trial, was put on hold as the weather forecast was for rain, wind, and even snow. As great as it would have been to join Clive, Scotty et al on a good climb, the prospect of being stuck up a cold mountain with road closure and hypothermia didn't really appeal. And besides with Eddy Merckx challenging me to ride 700km, and the prospect of late morning rain forecast, the blustery lumpy roads of Dodges beckoned.
And technically DFBTR could stand for Tuesday, and passing Red Heeler could count as bunch for a second or so, and I did actually ride to, and stop in Dodges. 73km return trip from Lauderdale. Not very many riders out today. Very breezey. And quite wet across the Midway Point causeways, with sea spray. Riding inclined at 45 degrees was also quite novel. In all most satisfactory. Anticipating good weather for tomorrows RBWR, the high point of Australia's riding social calender. Maybe the riders from the National's will come and watch US. ....Maybe.

I was out this morning Andrew.......for a mammoth 23km. Saw a few others about, including red heeler...............oh, yes, the sighting of red heeler was through my lounge room window.

I can confirm that they are almost always "mornings", but the day of the week, and the departure times are all over the place like a mad wom...............are we still allowed to say that?

Thursdays are currently less likely than other days, as, due to a noise complaint/s from the ol girls next door, I do the grinding work on my panel van restoration when they are both out shopping on Thursdays.

I am nearing the end of rust repairs, so that might soon change.

Grinding work.......panel van ...... noise complaint......

All those rumours that you try to expand upon are obviously correct master6.

See you on Wednesday - leaving at 9:00:00.000 - or with the gentlemen about 5 minutes early.

Well it was Tuesday, and time for another DFBTR. Sure it is stretching the definition, but we're here to ride, not to split hairs eh? Course chosen by Paul A, Dunalley loop. No complaints from me, as I've been itching to do it for a long time. Memories as a motorist suggested undulations and some hills. Not to worry though, as it turns out all quite tame. Slightly chilly easterly heading out. Met a touring Spaniard on his adventure of a lifetime. In good spirits considering the volume of stuff bulging out his panniers. Gusto en conocerte
Dunalley has certainly changed since the last time I was there, in the aftermath of the major bush fire. Much completed, and continuing reconstruction.
A brief refuel at the bakery, and on to complete the loop via the foreshore route. Quite a short cut I have to say. Short sections of dirt road, with occasional corrugations. Easily managed on the Roadie.
Pretty uneventful return. A century plus ride completed at a relaxed pace. Quiet roads in good condition, mild weather, great scenery, I LOVE IT HERE!

What's in a name Andrew? Todays Friday ride was rather pleasant, if only 32km for me. On the way home I had the good fortune to meet up with red heeler, who no doubt had been considerably further than my effort. Cambridge was mentioned. You cant beat a good chat on the way back to Dodges Ferry.

Perhaps we should arrange a christmas reunion at the Dodges Ferry branch of the famous Richmond Bakery. :)

Red Heeler is such a machine. Strava clubs everywhere recoil in terror at the thought of her joining, to monopolise the top of the Leader Boards. I see her out quite a bit, but usually I am unable to get her attention. Too entranced in 'the zone'.
I don't have a December roster yet, so can't commit to, what would be a great idea. I did make a roster request for Sally's Ride, and will be attending the Tour de Norfy. See you at either M6? RedH?

Yes, I do ride 70+ kms a day, most days of the week. And this does put me in the top 3 positions of some of the clubs I have joined. I'm sorry if you feel intimidated by this but I challenge myself to see how many kms I can do in 3 hours.
I may appear to be entranced in 'the zone' and don't always acknowledge other cyclists, but I have had a lot of things on my mind over the past 6 months and some days use my cycling as a means of thinking things through.
During October I have been cycling as part of the Great Cycle Challenge 2014, I set my km target at 1750 kms and along the way I have been raising funds to help find a cure to kids cancers. Its run by the Children's Medical Research Institute. You may have seen the jersey I have been wearing for this great cause.

AndrewT, are you rostered for December yet?
Who can we invite to a socially upmarket event in Dodges?
Redheeler
AndrewT
Master6
PaulB might be able to get there; I will call him.
Dave
Terry
Do we have a phone number for Dave.......please pm to me if so.
Who else?

We need to make the coffee the centre piece of the reunion...........cycling is just an excuse, and should be kept to a minimum in terms of distance and effort :D

Speak to me folks......

Andrew, I have a coffee engagement this Wednesday, without the need to cycle for it, however my training program is such that I expect to peak for 26/11 at Richmond. Any riders over 100 years of age will be in danger of defeat.
