Just finished cleaning up an old Peugeot Mont Blanc I came across a year or so back

56sq in Mangalloy HLE steel
Maillard hubs laced to Rigida rims with new stainless spokes
Sachs Rival Aris derailleurs and downtube shifters
Nervar crankset
CLB calipers and levers
French handlebars I'm not familiar with but have awesome lions!
Shod with color matching Schwable rubber

That looks fantastic. Great choice of bar tape and the gum walls.

Finally got to fixing up this old girl I bought at Rocky Swap many years ago. It nearly went to ruin under my house but my (teacher) daughter needed a bike to ride to school next year so was a good Chrissy present. I put some 'old' 700c wheels on it someone gave me. The Mafac Racer brakes have enough reach to do this. I knew they would because I raced my first UO8 Pug with singles back in 1977 until I got a good bike. I put on LED lights to replace dynamo and had to lose the old bars unfortunately.

It looks a lot like this "Helium" bike I saw in Paris. Anyone know if it is a related brand to Peugeot.

We need some Izoard competition here - this is mine.
It has white RX-100 gruppo as delivered except for FD which is silver RX-100. I like to keep it original but some of the white RX-100 is hard to come by - have been looking for that white head-set for years.

And here is an Izoard that I just sold. Tough guys ride purple bikes.
Some people are just scum. I'll keep an eye out for it; where and when was it stolen?

Here's my tough guy bike:

Bought a few years ago from here, used for commuting pretty heavily since. Had to replace a shifter so went with fabulous Santé ones. Original wheels, or at least old - one Wolber, one Mavic. Otherwise original with little additions; when I get a choice of colour I go with white or day-glo :) Can't find the original white brake hoods though. Crud Roadracer mudguards are the best and stay on all year.

Just for fun here's the batcave:

The original white hoods on mine were marked BR-1055 which is 105. So it looks like Shimano used the same hoods on RX100 and 105. I got some NOS from Poland, but I see good used ones on EBay from time to time, and at the moment there is a set of 105 NOS brakes complete with white hoods and cables for a fairly reasonable price.

The BR-1055 hoods are still being produced now as the Tiagra R400 levers also use the same hoods. Only thing is that the hoods are only available in black. The original ones from 20-25 years ago did come in white.

Hi All,
There are some pretty cool French bikes here.
Here is a pic of my ('74?) PX10.
I built it a few years ago and used it as my training bike, as it was a little heavier than all of my riding buddies bikes. Fewer gears too, so I had to ride real hard to keep up - which I did eventually!
It was a complete rebuild over 6 months, everything was reconditioned or replaced with original parts. All of the bearings were replaced (wheel, headstem, crank), wheels stripped, hand polished and relaced. The Suntour dérailleurs were rebuilt, the original MAFAC brakes installed (had to buy a whole bike just to get the right centre pull calipers!).
It did me well for the year or so I rode it. We did a few Falls Creek ascents and decents, Mt. Buffalo, countless mornings of Beach Road, a few Arthurs Seats and a few cycling camps.
The sharp eyes may pick the small chainring is a different colour, it is custom made unit after a room mate at Falls Creek pointed out it had a 44 tooth on it (this was after the climbs - when I was grinding the whole way up not sure why I was so slow). The new one is a 39. The stem was swapped out too, the RETUL fitting wanted a shorted stem, so I found one that looked original.
Obviously all of the original parts are in a box, saddle, stem etc.
It does not get ridden much anymore, which is a shame. May swap the pedals and take her out for a morning Beach Road ride again. It always turns a few heads!
Keep the classics coming!

My Peugeot Le Mans. Found it on a front lawn with a free bike sign and rescued it. Tange infinity, suntour gears, CLB brakes. The only thing that wasn't original was the tyres.
I reckon its in pretty good condition for the age - which is well before my time with bikes ( started racing as a10 yo in 1990).

I tried to sell it on here and couldn't even get $75 for it so now I've cleaned and stripped it and it will ne my commuter for a while. Unfortunately this means it's running as a fixie but nothing irreversible has been done and all the original parts are safely stored!

Such a nice, hand built frame. Can't wait to ride it.

I'm going to have to study this thread. Friend of mine had a Peugeot as a kid and I had Ross (usa) Philips branded bike. Both sort of 500- 600 dollar bikes back in the late 80s. I wish I remember the name of his bike so I could collect one as I'll never get another like mine. We rode around for thousands of miles for years on those bikes. The Peugeot was a metallic blue and definitely had biopace cranks, perhaps white seat and tape.

This MTB was like mine as i originally got it. The shifters were shot though, so changed them, and the rusted bars, and rode it heaps, though it's currently flatted out underneath my brothers house. I have to clean it up and change the right shifter again (or degrease it) ... will do so shortly. I love it's ride. Nice forward and responsive. For sale in brissie for a hundred-and-fifty i guess. Overall in good nick, but the fat 2.25" semi slicks are a little funny.

My first BMX was an expensive chro-moly white and blue thing, with light blue knobblies and grips (!). I sold the wreck of it for $50 about 15 years ago.

Some lovely pieces of machinery here. Gorgeous restorations and re-builds.
Only saw one that resembled my mid-70's '10 spd Gents Tourer'. Sigh, the memorys of carefree teenage years.
That white one outside the shop for (overpriced) $200, is it still there? (I know, not likely).
