I picked up an old Peugeot Mont Blanc recently to restore (will post some pics later in another thread), but I'm just trying to identify the rear hub at the moment.
I haven't cleaned it up much yet, but it's an old 6 speed (screw on cluster) and the only marking I can clearly see at this stage is the mountains logo making the word "Mount" as shown in the photo. Anyone got any clues?
See: IMAGE HERE.
Does anyone recognise this logo (rear hub of old bike)

Just checking, let me know if the image link isn't working for anyone?
It's on my google drive account, but I think I've set the permission for anyone to view.

image is visible, just way, way too recent for my area of knowledge and the name brings up far too many results for me to sort through.
and this catalogue was surprisingly uninformative

Thanks CS.
Yeah those hubs might be fairly new. The bike was a pretty old beaten up Peugeot Mont Blanc, but the wheels and other components look to have been updated - frame and forks look original though. Perhaps I should have posted this question in "The Shed" if this is a more recent part.
It's a bit of a mishmash. Front hub is Shimano 600, Rear derailleur is Shimano Exage 300ex, Crankset is Shimano Rx100. The rear hub looks to be in reasonably good condition. I just pulled it apart today to put in new grease, bearings are good and the axle is straight, but still the only marking I can find on it is that "Mount" as shown in the opening post.
BTW. I've just figured out how to embed the images from goolgle drive. These are some pictures of the bike from the original ebay listing (I've cleaned it up a little bit to make it ride-able but haven't taken any photos yet)

Ok, I may as well post it again since I've learnt to embed images.

I cant help with info or links, but I thought id throw this reply in here in case it helps with your searching.
I also have a "mount" hub with the same logo on a 26" mtb wheel.
It is labelled 'MOUNT X-1', and is 36h. I have tried searching the regular websites but have not found any info.

Thanks for the info roosta, that's helpful. It looks like whatever it is, it's not all that "retro" anyway.roosta wrote:I cant help with info or links, but I thought id throw this reply in here in case it helps with your searching.

Well it's not a bad quality hub, looks quite nicely finished and it takes the standard screw on cluster, so it's definitely useable. I've just repacked the bearings and replaced the original 13-18 "corn cob" cluster with a 14-28 "pizza" and it's now in service and getting ridden.

Is there a brand name on the quick releases? If they are the same for both hubs, might point you toward a manufacturer.

Good idea utedeej, that's one place I haven't looked yet. Not much light in the shed where the bike is to look now, but I'll take a look tomorrow.utedeej wrote:Is there a brand name on the quick releases? If they are the same for both hubs, might point you toward a manufacturer.

Ok, the skewer on this hub is marked as "Sansin Japan".utedeej wrote:Is there a brand name on the quick releases?
TBH though, there's no way to know whether that was the original skewer for this hub or not. This bike looks like it's been through quite a few parts changes over the years and I've only just acquired it. But yeah, maybe Sansin made that hub.

Here is another. I think that Sansin or Sunshine would be a pretty good match probably. Made lots of hubs. Will be interesting if Roosta's is also.uart wrote:Ok, the skewer on this hub is marked as "Sansin Japan".utedeej wrote:Is there a brand name on the quick releases?

Thanks utedeej. Yes Sansin/Sunshine made hubs for Suntour as well. The finish of this hub does seem to be on par with the reasonable quality Suntour stuff that I can recall. They definitely look a little better quality finish than what I can remember from cheaper stuff like "Joytech" from that era.utedeej wrote: Here is another.
