I just got my old MS BB redone with a new axle for square tapered cranks. Luckily mine was in good enough condition to be reconditioned, but I have been told that CERES in northcote has a bunch of these BB. If you are in Melbourne I suggest you head there.Excuse the thread revival...
I too am after one of these brackets for an old malvern star that was recently stripped and painted... the bike shop laughed at me when i went asking for one...
Could anyone help out?
Cheers,
Matt

I was put onto this bracket http://www.velo-orange.com/grcruthbobr.html and think it is an absolute brilliant idea! rather than looking for a second hand old one....
or the other option is to pay around 200 bucks to a specialist bike-manufacturer to adjust the bottom well to fit a normal bottom bracket.

I have one of those MS/Speedwell BB's new I'll sell for $150
With it, you get for free this circa 1980, 57 x 57 cm Malvern Star XL600, chrome tipped, white frame & fork only, with headset and spare second-hand Malvern Star/Speedwell BB (as fitted in pics - no other pictured components included).....
.... postage extra $$ (sorry, will not separate - prefer local pick-up)
PM me

Has anybody got any information on where to purchase those kind of BB? I want to refurbish and old Malvern Star frame and want to replace the BB but so far I couldn't find on the web. Only Velo Orange offers a threadless BB width 70mm width. But I am not sure if the inside diameter will fit, since I measured an ID of 37mm on the frame. And preferably I would like to order it from somewhere in Australia. Thanks in advance
