is there a glossary somewhere that explains the difference between dungas and popcorn? gaspipe is fairly self-explanatory..

so I had another look and I think I sussed it:

Dunga = pile of junk
DUNGA = bigger pile of junk
popcorn = grab the popcorn and watch the bidding action?

Spot on ;) there should also be a 'gaspipe POS' category for all the wannabe pickers out there. Batty's offering of Greg Williams' (footy player) fakedenago springs to mind...

Yeah I'm a bit slow Dan... Realised after that its probably odd that people post decent bikes in this thread.

Maybe we need an eBay gems thread or diamonds in the rough thread to split them both

Unsure about this, it's obviously in very very good condition but was XT really "the finest quality components available in 1992"? When did XTR first come along?

In any case $1,750 for a ye olde dually is a fair bit.

Love the phrase "built and then archived" - Built it, realised he totally didn't need it, didn't ride it, now selling it.
*sigh*, we've all made that mistake. Anyone in need of a Rigid SS 29er?

The pictures make it seem like a glimpse into the future, it must be filthy where ever that bike is because that looks like 20 years worth of dust to me.

1992! Eh, I guess it wasn't 'tried and tested', although their loss because with M900 it would be a good buy at the asking price. (That is, if you're into weird, mint condition but basically un ridable mountain bikes - I dunno, someone actually buys this stuff.)
Why ask that much but not even bother to throw a set of 26" knobbys on it?

According to http://mombat.org/Shimano.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; XTR was introduced in 1992.

edit: snap, lugnut beat me to it - with a link to the same site

Also a legendary motorcycle frame builder. Verlicchi built most of Ducati's racing frames in the late 70's and 80's. Combined with Marzocchi, who supplied Ducati suspension for years, a pretty formidable combination. This is true exotica of the highest order. I wonder if it was as good as it's makers reputations?

Heheh, hands up if you think Scott should scan some 90s Mountain bike mags!
Rumour has it that this Amp Research, owned by one of the staff at Commuter Cycles in Melbourne, slipped by badly advertised on eBay some months ago.

Dual suspension and cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes, at a time when the latest XTR still had cantilevers. :D
