I think this poor chap has mixed up his photos of his brothers bike because "Perfect condition" "top of the range" "over $2,000 spent" doesn't match with rust, worn chainrings, RX100 and gravel rash

Those rings are worn? Pretty sure I have some rings that look like that which are still being used.

I'm sure you do - they are not "worn out" but worn as in ridden more than a "handful of times"

I picked up a cute little pedal car at the tip the other week, faded and chipped paint, surface rust and wobbly wheels. It sold this morning for $306

I know we've already got a 133% markup thread, but this takes the cake: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/turner/b ... 1055060449" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And I've finally found another (but too small for me) Hanter Turbo: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gungahli ... 1055059969" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Mine's one of the nicest bikes I've laid cheek on.

One for the punters.

Looks like there may be a bike there, but you have to wonder why it is so difficult to remove it from the bag.

A certain BNA member has a decent looking Apollo Himalaya. Love that slingshot stem!
That's a (ahem) unique paint scheme on a Shogun
Some more interesting paintwork with decent bits attached.
Locally built?
Europa
Ignoring the price, couple 'o decent looking frames
Spruking for BNA enthusiasts!
Schmick looking but slightly pricey Apollo IV
Colour coded Ricardo for riding to national sporting events

excellent use of grammar. "dont ask for any discount" , "have only been ridden it for a handful of times" and the winner of the cliche advertising make you want it quote goes to...."First to see will take it straight away" of course they will take it straight away (in the dead of night) as it is left on the back terrace.

Imaginatively titled

Unlikely to stay at the current price I'd suggest.

read part 1 first and it makes more sense!

Poor guy. I don't doubt the story. The cash converters business model is criminal.

I've been seeing a few gorgeous bikes that are in need of repair work and/or a re spray.

Tange 2 Shogun 700, bad surface rust
Alpine GT needing canti mouts re brazed
531 Hillman Touring bike with rattle can patina

Considering that bikes in that condition sell for at least $150 below value, would it be worthwhile to have canti mounts brazed on, and then have them resprayed? Considering that the bike would then be beautifully painted, plus there is the option to convert it to 650b and add additional braze ons.

Does anyone have a ballpark figure to get a frame painted in that early-mid 80s Japanese two tone like the Shoguns above? And to add frame braze ons?
Also does anybody know wheeerree in Aus?

I just found Paconi's website and it seems they do still do frame painting. Might call 'em if I find something.

I don't doubt his story either, feel sorry for the guy. If thats him wearing the stackhat on the gumtree pic, I think I've seen him riding around the CBD.

Can't fault the original owner for putting his name into the police, but the police need to follow protocol.

Could also be he just upset some one & this was their payback.
If drivers and riders spent more time worrying about their responsibilities than their rights then roads would be far safer.
