Karen.
Karen is right. The remaining Alcon stock was taken over by someone else. Good to talk to Mick Mazza. Mick knew Bill Connolly. He frequents the Marrickville Road strip on the weekends. Nice guy. He did mention buying a consignment of Malvern Star frames in the 70s or maybe early 80s but gave up because supply was not reliable. He closed his own bike shop around 2010.

sort of , Alcon didnt use decals that I know of , they used painted stencils as per the paint work on the Alcone just discovered. All Alcon made or repainted bikes look like this. Mr Connolly , my guess, continued to make Alcone's after the Alcon factory closed. So Ill say its a Alcone made by Bill Connolly not a Alcon (the factory or business) made Alcone. Slight diference but worthy of note I think as you can see they are bikes from different universes :D again ,just an educated guess, happy to be shown wrong as its all a learning experience with these things. Mick Mazza sold the "Alcon" bike from his shop, made at Alcon!

To confuse things, there was also Super Alcyon's at Chippendale. Friend of Connelly's who was given permission to use the similar name.

I've got an early 50s Alcone 'Road Sports' which is presently being built up. Will post pics when I feel it is up to scratch.

HI I HAVE A ALCONE BIKE I HAVE HAD SINCE I WAS 10 YEARS OLD I AM NOW 70, IT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY FATHERS FRIEND AND IT WAS ONE OF LIONEL COX'S TRACK BIKES I BELIEVE. AT THE TIME WE HAD THE BIKE REPAINTED IT WAS ORIGINALY BURGANDY OR DARK RED WITH L COX WRITTEN ON IT WITH TRACK RIMS BUT WE HAD MY UNCLE BUILD A SET OF ROAD WHEELS FOR IT AND ARE STILL THERE TODAY I RODE THE BIKE EVERYWHERE UNTIL I WAS 17 AND HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE SHED SINCE. COULD ANYONE TELL ME IF IS WORTH DOING UP OR SELLING AS IS AND GIVE ME A ROUGH PRICE OF WHAT IT IS WORTH.

THANKS TERRY
