Finally found a Concorde Squadra frame in my size so I can live out my PDM fantasies:

Frame is from 1988 I think, Columbus SLX made by Giovanni Pelizzoli aka Ciocc.
Painted and built it up with a mint DA7400 group I was saving.

Mostly ride road bikes and MTB in my history but recently picked up a random frame with bits and pieces Circa 1970’s/80’s.
Frame has been painted and I can’t tell the manufacturer but wanted to post in case someone recognizes it. My suspicions are that it may be a Nishiki but has “MOH” serial number underthe BB. Anyway, here are a couple of pics
Who doesn’t love cats
Not sure what the etiquette here is so I may postmy build up later with all the abaresque parts it came with!
Cheers!

Have a look in your "url" of ~origina ?, and it`s why pics are borked so it needs to be "~original".
But it`s better to stay away from Photobucket and use other hosting services as mentioned in "How to post" threads.

Brilliant, utilitarian, yet elegant. Schwalbes ?hartleymartin wrote:1982 Raleigh Royal Tourer. Rebuilt with mostly 1980s-era parts, but recently converted to 650B and fitted with more modern brakes.
I do love a Raleigh. Nice to see some SunTour hardware still around.

I am currently trying to find a set of Tektro 900A Dual-Pivots in silver. At the moment I am using a Tektro R559 on the front (which only barely reaches) and an Odyssey 1999 BMX caliper on the rear. I also need to find that other set of Koolstop Salmon Contental brake pads for the rear!
Reynolds 531 frame. Purchased from another user on this forum back in 2010 if memory serves me.
And yes, Schwalbe Tyres. Marathon or Marathon plus... I cannot recall but one of them comes in 650B and the other doesn't.

The "78 Fountain Nuovo Record" is my ultimate indulgence. Based on my first super serious 100+Km/day commuter. Its actually a very early Aussie built Columbus SLX frame with 99% Nuovo Record. I could not discover its real identity after about 3 years searching so I made it my own.
My 82 Bianchi Campione del Mondo
(Both with Campy Nuovo record and starring 'Portacatena'. Very similar bikes only the "Fountain" has a better quality Columbus frame. That said, they both ride very similarly too.)
I think you can 'click' on the images to obtain an enlarged view.

Tell me more about the Pinarello - late 80's Treviso?
That Berretto...tight clearances anyone?
Sneaky Rossin in there, too.

The Pinarello is a mid '80's Asolo model - Concor tubing. I've had 4 Asolo's over the years and they were all nice to ride. An economical tubeset but has excellent structural qualities. Funny thing though - 2 of them developed cracks in the RH rear dropout. easy fixed if you have brazing equipment handy. Kitted out with Suntour Superbe Pro and flat bars. It's now my 'going to the shop' bike.P!N20 wrote:That's it, I'm quitting bikes.

The Beretto is a fun bike with 700c wheels. Strangely nice to ride. A aero Shimano AX seat tube - its a thin bike. The paint scheme is very nice.
The sneaky Rossin is a 1990 Prestige model made out of Tange Prestige, specially shaped 6 facetted tubing. All lugs are quite special too. This IS a lovely bike to ride and it just might be the nicest riding bike I own. 2nd Gen. Campy C-Record, leather wrapped bars and a Brooks Competition saddle.

Thankyou LG, most kind of you. Interestingly, (probably only to me though - haha) I have owned 5 of them since the 80's while most of the remainder were built-up at various times in the 90's. Only a couple were put together in the early 2000's so they have all been ridden - all ridden often except for a couple that were ridden very sparingly but that was my prerogative to keep them that way. A number were used as long distance commuters throughout the years and I just couldn't stand to part with them when I wanted a change. A couple have been raced.LG wrote:Congratulations sir, you have a very nice assortment of conveyances. I hope you have a roster and find the time to make use of them all!
The Malvern Star was bought new in 1938 by an uncle and is in my care.
Most (95%) were bought as frames and components sourced to build them up while the few I did buy as complete bikes were re-built to my satisfaction. Only one frame was purchased new by me and that was in the 80's.
Ha ha, I think my roster extends back to the mid 70's when it comes to my 'racing' bikes.
I'm sure my little story is very similar to many associated with this Forum.

As someone who only recently began an appreciation of over bikes I'm completely gobsmacked by the great condition they are all in.
Well done!

Looks to have had several lives, and has accumulated a mixture of Williams, Shimano, Ambrosio, Sakae, Weinmann, Araya, Dia Compe & Brooks parts over the past 50-odd years. Not to mention chrome plated everything and 70s' decals. And a mixture of metric and Imperial fasteners. But apart from a little bend in the drive-side seat stay it rolls along OK, even if it's slower than it looks at 12.2 Kg. Hmmm. Those pox bars and brake levers have gotta go ...

Jim Bundy built Lennie Rogers circa 1979, Reynolds 531, repainted by Quang from VillaVelo. Set up with mostly period Japanese parts and 30c Grand Bois tyres for bike path rambles with the family.
Koga Miyata Pro Racer circa 1979, Tange Champion No 2, original paint and decals. Set up as an 8x1 with Dura Ace 7200 for short trips around town.
Frank Paino custom circa 1987, Columbus SP/SL, original paint, some decals replaced. Set up with Suntour Superbe Pro friction, with Shimano 105 dual pivot brakes.
