Vintage Parts

Postby LiamHetherington » Thu Oct 11, 2018 12:59 pm

Hi,

My wife recently bought me a vintage Raleigh Carlton Super Course (I think), from around 1973. I have a problem with one of the rear axle wing nuts, it seems to have lost part of its thread and isn't locking. Given Raleigh's non-standard thread, finding an replacement is not that easy. Does anyone know where I can source a replacement?

Regards

Liam

Not my era, but if a friendly mod can move this to the retro section I’m sure someone will have the right answer.

Welcome!
First, read everything Sheldon Brown had to say - start here. At first glance, Super Course should have standard threading, so it might be something else.
What hub is it? have you confirmed it's a Raleigh special and not a "standard" sturmey archer / some other english size?

I've not seen these in a long while.
eBay is probably the only easily accessible means. Found these :
