Try Before I Buy (Or Build, Actually) in Sydney

Postby icicic » Sat Apr 14, 2018 6:42 pm

Hi. I'm building a heavy load cargo trike and thinking to adapt a recumbent plan (from Atomic Zombie) to place the rider (me) in a High Recumbent (or "High Racer") position. But, while I've strongly attracted to this approach having read enough articles proving that Recumbents are better at delivering power and speed, I haven't ever had a ride and I'd like to do that at least once before I commit considerable time, energy and some money to this build.

If anyone could help me out by pointing me toward somewhere or someone who might let me hire or borrow a Recumbent for a ride or two, it would be hugely appreciated. I'm in Sydney.

Thanks,
Rik

We have a group on Facebook - NSW Recumbent Riders, we meet every month at Sydney Olympic Park for a ride.
Best to contact us on there, and come along to our next meet (around middle of May)
I'm sure members will be happy for you to test their machines

That looks like an Organic Engines Triclops.

Don't know if their site exists anymore but they had some interesting designs

Thanks domedeli, that group wasn't showing up when I last searched but I found it and applied to join just now. I hope to meet you in May.

Hi twowheels,

That's an interesting and elegantly stripped down design.

My design is also for a rear loaded trike, (or aft if you prefer).
