Good writeup on your year there Bartek. Your experience with the public pretty much mirrors mine.
Met a couple the other day on holiday from the Netherlands. Thier comment was how good it was to see a velo here. We had a nice little chat about cycling.

I'm of two minds with the fibreglass rod. I might replace it with a bit of piano wire. I wonder if the slightly greater weight would be a problem. I could bind the joint with fusewire and solder. Should be unbreakable.
Had my first failure the other day. The left trafficator ceased to work.
It was a broken wire on the switch caused, I think" by the gear cable rubbing on it.
I soldered it up and used a bit of heatshrink.
I would have liked to have moulded some RTV silicon around the lot but didn't have any to hand so I used hot melt glue. I'll probably regret doing that some time in the future..

I got 4 x 2m lengths for $35.55 delivered, I have thought since that I should have bought the 3m lengths (less waste). They have it in lengths from 1m to 4m, maybe should have asked if 5m or even 6m lengths were available! Being a Yorkshireman I hate waste!

My brake light issue seems to be intermittent, it worked fine the other day when I set aside time to look at it! will have to keep checking.

Probably not a serious attempt but interesting still the same that some how has thought to use a petition to try to drive demand for a "commuter" friendly and priced velomobile.

I used to buy the stuff from some place in North Perth but probably long gone now.
Might order a couple of the longer lengths. Good to have some spare.

Thanks for the link Joe. Much appreciated. Could be handy for other supp;ies.
I think at this stage I'll order a couple of 4m lengths of 3mm rod from the link Bartek provided.
They can roll it int a coil so postage shouldn't be bad. With 8 m I should be set for some considerable time.

Happier picture, I did the Freeway Bike Hike on Sunday and this picture was posted on their Facebook Page. Shows off my blinged up wheel covers with their new fibre-glass rods and new amber reflectors!

Good shot. How was the ride and which distance did you do?
Are the stars stick on? If so be interestng to see how they last.
Copper suggested to me I should put an amber stripe right down the side.

My fibreglass rod turned up yesterday. It was black but that matters not. 3mm.
Now I need to find some suitable cord and I can redo my covers.
I've been thinking of using elastic cord. Some others I've seen use it to help
keep covers tight in varying weather conditions.

The ride was good, but some people don't know how to keep left! I will hopefully post a video soon!

I did the 30km (34km) ride from Kwinana, I cycled to the start (22km) then cycled home from the finish (60km) for a total 114km for the day.

The stars are stuck on (self-adhesive), I have stitched one on but it took such a long time I gave up on the others. I may have to try sweet talk my wife into finishing the others!

Mine is black also, the elastic is an interesting idea I will keep in mind.

I have uploaded the video from the "Freeway Bike Hike" the front camera skipped bits (don't know why!) but the rear camera offers a better perspective, I think. I had to speed it up a bit so it wasn't too long! about 4X

Looks like a great ride.

I wouldn't mind doing it but I'm a bit far away.

Makes me think they should permanently close the freeway to motorised traffic.

Velor inner lining. Precut for Mango Plus or Sport. adhesive and easy to install. Gives a luxurious feel and makes you Mango quieter. Others soundproof materials are heavy and take up a lot of space. This is thin and light.
