The Giro Rosa

Postby nezumi » Tue Jul 08, 2014 2:13 pm

It's good to see Marianne Vos in fine form, leading the Giro Rosa after stage 2 (and the prologue).

That said, it would be nice to see a bit more variety, as well as have the Giro Rosa included in the SBS TdF highlights on TV.

Agree - no reason not to show some of this racing as well, a few minutes would be a good start and addition.

The more profile, the better. This is the only Grand Tour for women, and they'd like to change that.

From the reports I read it sounded good too - Vos was all over it. That said, there was some less-than-sporting tactics applied by her team members to block another rider on a climb - boxing her in and not letting her get past them.

Have a listen to Dan & Sarah on Unofficial Unsanctioned Women's UCI Cycling Blog. The last couple of podcasts focus on the Giro Rosa.
Dan is an Aussie with a drive to increase the profile of women's cycling & Sarah is English & loves pro cycling ( in particular she is a massive fan girl of country woman Emma Pooley)
Great weekly podcast and they also link to good video sources.

Clearly not the Brazilian women's cycling team!
