looks even worse because he was pushing on and the rest of the group was sitting up as the team car pulled along side him, but no matter what it's reprehensible.

Rumour has it that Nibbles was at the Vuelta against his will and wanted to be sent home. There were videos of him training with BMC before the vuelta also. Something's rotten in the state of Astana...

It was hilarious to watch.

I like the Vuelta. Tough climbs in the sun. Perfect in my mind. No idea why they whinged so much about the prologue. Ride the right bike and it wouldn't be an issue. It didn't seem to be an issue in the end anyway.

Selfish! Does he not care about my fantasy Velogames team? That's the last time I pick Nibbles.

Vinokourov was right. Something is broken in his head.

Porte wasn't DQued of course for receiving a wheel from another team. Nibali was correctly DQued. I just would like to see this rule being consistently applied. Cavendish has held onto cars up climbs and never punished.

Meanwhile the boy with the loveliest smile in pro-cycling wins the stage and gets to wear the red jersey. Go Esteban Chávez!!

What's the story with the SBS coverage, are they showing many stages live?

DS

Ha, I finally found it on their site, last 8 stages live. Ok, would prefer more though. What I don't get at the moment is why there are no highlights of stage 2 on SBS On Demand.

Nibali is being a sook. He was out of order at the tour a couple of times, and is now throwing out excuses left, right and centre.
How long is his contract at Astana ? Might not be long now .....

Yeah it's very disappointing that the Vuelta seems to be treated as the poorer brother of the Gran Tours. I don't get it. Looks who's there, Froome, Quintana, Tejay, Sagan, Dekengolb, Nibali (not any more  ), the list goes on. It's a 3 week Grand Tour, with a lot of the big names, great scenery, great stages, it's just not recognized. Does SBS not have the funding to purchase all the stages?? It's not like there's anything else on TV at 1am....

As for Nibbles, from his interview it does seem not all is well with him in the team camp. When is his contract up? I thought him and Aru were given joint leadership, and that would ultimately be decided on the road. If he got caught up, and Aru didn't, I can see why them team would carry on and protect their other leader.

Both Nibali and Aru were caught in the crash. Nibali was a little irritated that Aru got help to get going again quickly and he didn't. I'm not defending Nibali, just explaining why he felt abandoned. There's clearly unhappiness within the Astana. Did anyone verify Nibali's claim that Caleb Ewan caused the mass crash on Stage 2 (I know Caleb has denied it)?

Great attack by Chaves! OGE are having a great Vuelta after the disappointment of the TdF. Dan Martin attacks too late, again.

Another impressive ride from Chaves - I didn't expect him to hold onto the lead. Aru would appear to be the leader of Astana, still to see who is the real leader at Movistar

Does anyone know a site where it can be streamed in Aus? The only ones I can find say 'not available in your country'. I'm so disappointed that SBS aren't even streaming it online!!

So the TT specialist turns into a mountain goat. Puts JRod, Froome, Chaves to the sword.

Impressive effort to turn into a mountain goat considering the Vuelta hasn't hit a mountain yet
