Nice enough to cause harm to others on a seemingly regular basis. Chocking a woman until she passes out is not my definition of nice. Being arrested for breaking into your neighbour's home, threatening and assaulting them them is not nice. Persistently driving while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine is not nice. Surrounding yourself with drug dealers is not nice. Driving your car into bicycles are then fleeing the scene is also not my idea of nice.AUbicycles wrote:Jan Ullrich is still in the popular media in Germany and reported now out of treatment again for substance abuse. Nice enough fellow but troubled.
This is one example of the carnage he caused, putting others into hospital:
Troubled - yes.
Needs help, yes (has persistently refused help for more than a decade - his first wife left him because he refused to get help).
Amazing bike rider (despite the doping) - yes, a phenomenal talent.
Nice - no.

I note that Armstrong continues his road to redemption using this. Maybe there's genuine concern, maybe not. He did make sure we knew about it.
And on that, I note that Cycling Tips is an enabler!!!!

When I meet him and translated in an interview, my impression was 'nice enough fellow'. This was after the Telekom days, night club sagas and, if I recall, after one crash. Hope this context clarifies the comment.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Nice - no.

Apparently asks for a 48 hour delay for reasons that can't be given, but appears to be health related .....
Nothing dodgy here ....
Mental illness (he's reportedly struggled with depression in the past) is not something to be taken lightly, but you have to wonder what is really going on ? Abuse of legal process or real personal health ?

Freeman is trying to outdo Puneet Puneet. Or perhaps delay to after the statute of limitation for Wiggins 2011 Dauphine win expires.MichaelB wrote:Oh surprise, Dr Freeman misses the 1st day of his hearing ....

The medical hearing for former Team Sky and British Cycling doctor Richard Freeman is in danger of descending into farce amid concerns that delays could prevent UK Anti-Doping from acting on any new evidence.
The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing was due to start last week, having been allocated 20 days in Manchester from February 6.
But an initial application for a 48-hour adjournment by Freeman's legal team has been followed by further preliminary legal application that the MPTS now expect to continue for the remainder of this week.
That means it could be day nine before the tribunal that centres on an allegation that Freeman ordered the banned drug Testosterone for an athlete in May 2011 formally begins, making it most unlikely that a conclusion will be reached by March 5.
If the tribunal is only part-heard, it would then be a case of reconvening and that becomes difficult logistically with lawyers, as well as witnesses, potentially booked up later in the year. Indeed there are concerns that the hearing may not be concluded this side of Christmas.
Any date beyond May this year would be a potential problem, not least for UKAD when the statute of limitations for an alleged doping offence in May 2011 was eight years.

He wasn't flagged by the athlete biological passport, highlighting it's clearly being abused. Blood bag doping is so old school.MichaelB wrote:And another one caught !!
