pro lite como hub removal hex key size
Postby eeksll » Sun Nov 16, 2014 7:48 pm
its bigger than a 10 mm it appears to be a 11 or a 12, its deep in there so I couldn't get my vernier callipers in for a measure either.
while I am at it, what grease for the hub pawls.
I also noticed that entry from the non hub side its a hex key i.e 6 sides and from the hub side its 12 sides (? something more than 6 ) whats with that?
thanks for looking

Though by your description of 12 sided thingy, you might need a Torx key.

It isn't torx, it doesn't have that concave star shaped. It would be a massive torx screw too since my 10 mm allen key goes straight through
main reason I ask is I had assumed it was 11mm, but I cant seem to find a hex key set that has 11mm in it so I am starting to think maybe 11 is one of those not commonly used sizes ... hence I am thinking it is possible its a 12mm

Depends how dirty it is in there. If its pretty clean you'd just wipe it down and re-pack it with fresh grease.eeksll wrote:cheers, in the other thread, the poster said they flushed the freehub with oil, any recommendations of what type of oil to flush it with.jacks1071 wrote: Here you go, $7.65 delivered:

If its real dirty then you'd want to strip it down and clean it with with something like kero if you couldn't wipe it all out. Make sure its all washed down and dry before repacking everything with fresh grease.

So its actually the free wheel clicking that sounds a bit dry and has a loud tick every now and then. Is there anything else I can do?
is this where I flush it with oil?
