I've got an old roadie & its really narrow in the rear.
I just got some nice new aero wheels... & they're 19mm internal (Kinlin xr-31t)
Whats the minimum tyre size that can be mounted practically?
I know the ETRTRO chart says the minimum is 28mm - but i'm sure there's many successfully running much smaller tyres.
The hooks are nice & deep... possible to run 23's? (Conti 4k's in 23mm inflate to about 26 outer diameter on the rim)

What that means in practice is that the wheels are designed to work best in conjunction with wider tyres. I have to admit that I used them with a set of 23mm tyres, but even these sat like a pair of 25mm tyres when mounted on the rim, meaning improved comfort and grip, and lower rolling resistance, and I’m sure that 25mm or 28mm tyres would make things even better.

They read like a good set of wheels in that review and the road.cc one.
Where did you get them?

Confirming what has already been said. I've been riding a 23 on a 19mm inner rim on the back of my bike since 2010. With a Durano it comes out at 25mm with 90psi.Nate wrote:I've got an old roadie & its really narrow in the rear.

One thing i also notice is that under the "hooks" there's LOTS of horizontal cross section.
i.e. compare:
to
So its definitely been engineered for smaller tyres.
On they go! Many thanks all.

The XR-31T profile doesn't look like the one you show.Nate wrote:yeah - awesome, thanks.Nobody wrote: Confirming what has already been said. I've been riding a 23 on a 19mm inner rim on the back of my bike since 2010. With a Durano it comes out at 25mm with 90psi.
