Valve core size

Postby OnTrackZeD » Tue Jun 12, 2018 12:20 pm

Hi I want to make a valve core tool for when I might need one on the road and I would like to find out the size I need to make my little spanner. Obviously I don't have one at the moment to measure.

Googled it and for such a simple thing there is no information about it out there.
Thanks.

For what valve type?
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Why make one?

Super B Valve Core Tool $8.99 at Pushys, does presta and schrader.

Many tyre levers have a Presta key, as does my ParkTool multitool.

With my Dremel it will take two minutes to cut a slot on my key and I'll have it on me all the time.

They are $4 on ebay, though slow china delivery.
They have functionality for both valve types and do both the core and help get the lock nut thing loose.

Pay another couple of dollars and get spare cores with it, or a second tool which is useful for one to stay burried in the toolkit and the other handy next to floor pump.

I think it is also the '11' size on the cheapest spoke keys.

Cheers,

Thanks, I have one but I haven't seen it for years. I'll have another look.
