As title suggests...my BB tool fits earlier SM-BB5700, now I have a SM-BBR60. Shimano in their wisdom have changed sizes.
Do I need TL-FC24 or TL-FC25 adapter to suit this step-down?
Jim
Tool query: SM-BB5700 -> SM-BBR60 = TL-FC2x?

The R60 should include the adaptor.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Probably did when new, but was bought second hand and likely the prior owner kept/lost/never had it.
I am leaning to TL-FC25 for this one, as teh 24 seems to fit the 9000 model only?

Just checked the one I have on the shelf.... The 25 is what you need.

The 9000, the R60 and the old 5700 etc are all different aren't they? Why is it so....

Yep. 5700 is bigger, hence the step-down adapter for 9000 and R60, which are different from one another, but not so different that they make a 9000->R60 adapater...

Wy the R60 is different to 9000 is a mystery, but both use "low profile" bearings compared to the older type. It isn't an issue with new units because the adaptor is supplied.

Neither adaptor fits my Pedros external BB tool (1/2" drive socket). Very frustrating. I'll need to get an open, spanner style Hollowtech tool by the looks of it.

The adaptors are a very tight fit in the standard tools so they don't slip. Open-end or fully enclosed spanner should't make any difference. Use multi-grips or similar to squeeze the adaptor into the spanner.
