The photos probably 100 years old based on the setup of the bike.

If you look up Keith Oliver on FB, he's posting a lot of great pictures from his and others racing legacy

How tall was Nicho at this stage in his career ,the bike he is holding looks like it is over 23in
and i dont remember him being that tall.
Sorry for the slow reply siennatrack, been away.
Your correct, Say around 5'-10" or 11"
I'd say the frame was around 22" or just over, from my memory

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, I'm just getting back into cycling after a few years away from the sport 15-17yrs.

In regards to the rider in question, it is Rik Sloane, I began racing in Tassie around the same time that Rik was at his peak 1988-90, I think if you compare photos of M. Vinnicombe you'll find he is much more muscular than Rik ever was.

Looks like your tiring, or that position, is a bit long. An inherent fault of these bikes,
in my opinion, as you tend to slide forward, thereby losing power. From observation, not experience.
Hope you work it out, stay back in the seat, do the time (training) on the bike, and produce
the best time you can, and enjoy it. Is that TT or the now defunct pursuit your doin' (both hurt) ? :o
Thanks for your shot.

Cheers for the tips Brentono! Was after a night of racing on my regular rig, so wasn't exactly fresh! Wasn't doing anything timed, just laps for fun, will probably go for the kilo or similar in coming weeks/months (if they keep letting me out on it  )

But the bike got plenty of smiles, laughs, enquiries, and Gent's of the era reliving their time back then as well!

I would have loved to see that, HLC. Bring it out to Lidcombe on Friday nights and I'll give you some time in the program for a demo spin. Of course, DHBC are running a retro day in March (I think) and they' be having retro racing there. You have to take the bike there to show it off.

Let me chat to my support crew David (Team Mighty Ducks) and we'll probably come down to a Friday at Lidcombe for some laps!!

Hoping to make a few minor changes/polish a few bits and pieces for the tempe show in March. Will be taking my Bridgestone down for that too! :)

Most interesting event of the 2014 Subaru Cycling Australia Track National Championships
at the Adelaide Superdrome. IMO. Great ride in the men’s keirin final by Shane Perkins.
All the great work in Japan, paid off, congratulations. 8)

Notice at the top end they are all going for the aero mass start helmets. How much difference does it make?

Mike
Though I have no knowledge of these latest helmets, I venture to say it's probably 50% psychological and 50% scientific
This development has been going on since the seventies, and many have "greats" on the Track have tried a new design.
Some that spring to mind... (and just a natural development from the original keirin helmets)

Depends on the individual and helmet.* Reason they are the flavour of the month will be due to perceived benefit rather than by actual testing!

*I've personally seen a Met Stradivarius test better for one person than a Casco in the tunnel!

Think I've owned a Met Stradivarius in the past

I'm surprised to hear that a standard mass start helmet would be a casco for a particular rider. But it goes without saying that you need data to know what's really happening
