The Queensland State Velodrome (hope it gets a better name).

After another track race day cancellation, I thought I would start a thread on the upcoming indoor velodrome for Brisbane. This will be the first indoor velodrome in Queensland.

Excited for you guys! :D

Have to say we are pretty lucky with the number of indoor velodromes and outdoor tracks available already in Australia. Compared to say the USA where they have now only three indoor tracks - the third after only recently fitting an inflatable tent over the Colorado Springs track.

I haven't had a lot of time on the boards, Northcote velodrome was still concrete when I left Melbourne and the "multi-purpose Venue had not been open long but I was lucky enough to put a few laps on the MPV.

Indoor boards are far superior to anything else, like riding with a constant tailwind. It looks like I'll be heading back to Melbourne at the end of track season, and I'm really looking forward to riding there again.

Cheers,

Cameron

Racing at DISC is year round, with Brunswick holding races on Tuesday nights and Northcote on Thursday nights...

Wood is indeed good! Have now ridden 3 Australian indoor velodromes. DISC here in Vic mostly, but also Dunc Gray in Sydney and Silverdome in Launceston. Still to race in Adelaide or Perth and soon Queensland. :D

I overheard someone talking about a track builder being stuck in Rio as the Olympic velodrome is not yet complete - I'm assuming that could be the Qld track builder? They were saying the pine was on site and waiting. Should be great when it finally gets done!

Anyone got a pair of tweezers? Helpful for removing those pesky little splinters when you crash
