Still a fun ride in, as Bus replacements for Trains meant the freeway traffic was fkd! So glad I don't drive 2 work!

What brake pads do you have? They shouldn't do that.

westbound afternoon traffic was reduced to a crawl when suddenly a driver got out of his car (on the middle lane no less) and started threatening the driver in front of him - "bring it", "bring it on" .. yadda yadda yadda.
so much anger when everyone has the common goal of .. just trying to get home

See about getting some different/better pads. Swisstop are good.apollo95 wrote:Just stock standard Sora brakes on the Azzurri, which is a 2012 model!
My commute yesterday afternoon was a nice 65km, but my planned same one today was rained out, only 25km.

I did a u-turn to check in although I didn't see it. She seemed okay, ambos turned up, I did tell her friend about reporting the crash so she can et all medical expenses covered (if required) by ICWA so at least she doesn't have that to worry about. 10 weeks later and I'm still getting physio once a week but no out of pocket thanks to ICWA!

I guess I didn't go too badly considering. Eventually home - now drying out shoes, cleaned the bike up, etc.
My brakes have also decided to go silly in the rain too - must have had something wash up onto the pads or the wheels. The pads are fairly well worn, so I'll change them soon.

Still, got home without getting wet.
Hopefully tomorrow will be dry. Still lots of mud and debris everywhere though.

I've also been dodging the rain a bit too - I have to also get rid of all the garbage off the bike, it is filthy. did a 31 average this morning on the commute without working too hard. But I was cautious on the brakes... Nearly got caught by oil on the road at a roundabout yesterday, fortunately I was going slowly.trailgumby wrote:Both my last two evening commutes home have been through violent thunderstorms. Spectacular light shows. Managed to dodge the hail tonight but not the 40 minute job cleaning down mybike and getting all the sludge off the rims and outof the brake pads.

Yesterday in between the thunderstorms I managed to get in 30km in the afternoon, only interrupted to move a turtle off the cycleway.
I'm holding off on a disc road bike, though it's hard to avoid them, high end bikes without them are slowly disappearing. New S5 Cervelo is disc. Various others are going disc.

end-of-trip facilities at North Sydney is pretty good - i.e. fresh towels, body gel, day locker, shower, bike pump, repair tools, etc ..
the other location is more basic - can't expect much being the lone cyclist in an anonymous data-centre in the middle of a business park.
also realised belatedly that i need to be on top of the "stuff" that i bring daily - e.g. fresh clothes, notebook+power supply, security ID, USB cables, etc .. i don't have a permanent locker in either location so gotta make sure i don't show up without proper clothes to change to!

Otherwise I seem to have managed to commute everyday without getting caught in the rain, so that's some miracle.

Nice work. Need to look after the wildlife.g-boaf wrote:Yesterday in between the thunderstorms I managed to get in 30km in the afternoon, only interrupted to move a turtle off the cycleway.
Last boys weekend away we nearly ran over a massive echidna on the Thredbo Valley Trail. We had a good laugh at the lead rider for calling it a porcupine. I've never seen one so big. The australian equivalent of a Honey Badger. He just didn't give a damn
