Recommended Sufferfest Videos

Postby jack11 » Wed May 20, 2015 8:55 am

I have recently purchased a new trainer as winter sets in. To make trainer sessions more bearable and to get some more structured training I have purchased the following sufferfest videos: Rubber Glove, Downward Spiral, A Very Dark Place and The Long Scream. So far I have done each video once and enjoyed them and found them to be a good workout. However - I am aware that only having three real workout sessions (Rubber Glove is an FTP test) could become repetitive very quickly, and could also limit training gains.

For those of you who have or do use sufferfest videos - which video/s would you recommend I buy next?

I had a quick look to see if any threads like this exist already but could not find anything. If I have missed one, I apologize.

I bought the starter pack which has The Downward spiral (older version, they have just released, or about to, release a new version), Angels, and the Long Scream. Angels is a good one too.

Some other free options also (to help expand the library):

CTXC 45 Minute Trainer Video
CTXC 60 Minute Trainer Video
CTXC 90 Minute Trainer Video

All up the combination of Sufferfest (which I plan to buy a couple more of) as well as the youtube videos gives a good variety. The bonus with the CTXC videos is that they were all mainly recorded down beach road and into frankston/peninsula area.

Do you find that the climbing orientated videos actually improve your climbing or just generally improve strength/endurance?

I find the interval ones alot better than the climbing/ race simulation ones.
I'm not a climber, so these ones have helped build my FTP immensely.

I tried ISLAGIATT but my Kickr calibration was a bit off and I died miserably halfway through. About time for a rematch :-).

I have purchased "Hell Hath No Fury" because I wanted something a bit longer. I think I will go for The Rookie and Angels next.

Also worth thinking about getting the two add on efforts #the long scream and #extra shot. Great way to extend the efforts. Did #HHNF with #TLS today and my legs are now complaining

I did the 45min version last week, on a spin bike in the hotel gym while away on a work trip. Was really good, great little video... :-)

sufferfest have an app that you can download. I think the monthly subscription is $12. It has the full library of videos on demand.

A bit of a more expensive option, but I have found it usefull when away and use it to give me something to structure a session on. Very portable.
