I don't agree with the above statement; the only time I've ever been injured on a bike is coming off it, usually at speed Poor bike fit, and form is what will cause injury! I will however agree that if focusing on a time crunched / HIIT approach one will need to be mindful of managing the workload and recovery... If not careful you can dig a pretty deep hole, that said the same can be said for bulk volume.Xplora wrote:If you focus on time crunched/HIIT approaches you get injured really fast and lose most of the benefits you gain. Just Riding is unlikely to hurt you because you'll gravitate to manageable workloads.

HIIT stuff works really well too. Cul has given the necessary notes of caution. Otherwise, it works well.

Not everyone is capable of realising they are "in the hole". I've gotten serious injuries from baseball, squash, guitar, drums, and cycling, from overuse. I go hard. I'm 35 now, and finally have a better understanding of what I can cope with (and a maturity to say "too bad, I'm not chasing you anymore, I'm done today")... and I would caution anyone doing HIIT that they must be extremely careful in managing the stress it places on your body... because you might not realise you are past the point of danger!
