Itchy coccyx region

Hi All,

About 3 months ago I started getting itchy skin around the coccyx area after a ride, and thought it might be a pimple or boil. Nothing appeared and since then it has become more persistent, no sores or anything just itching sensation.

Has anyone else had this and is there any recommended treatments? I'm guessing its sweat/humidity related and might have some kind of skin bacteria living there?

If you see your GP, they will say - use a topical antifungal for two weeks (clotrimazole/miconazole/terbinafine). If that doesn't work, then try a (weak) topical steroid. If that doesn't work, then they will probably actually have a look at it.

If you are getting some discharge (blood or pus), it's possibly a pilonidal sinus. Itch isn't the main thing though with them.

As valley forge suggested, they are the steps I'd try... U can buy clonea/daktarin cream over the counter... Give it a go.,,

lol, most vets would agree with you

apparently the issue can be significantly reduced by feeding a diet higher in fibre. A lot of little dogs that eat canned food need to have their gland cleaned. If the dog is given more fibre the problem occurs less often.
