BNA losers club - 2015

Postby singlespeedscott » Thu Jan 01, 2015 9:12 am

I need some form of incentive to achieve my pre wedded weight this year and this is the best way to do it.

Yesterday I weighed in, on the highly accurate ALDI scales  , at 79 kgs. Apparently, according to said scales, my body fat percentage is 22.5%. My height is 178cm when not slouching so I think 68kg is perfectly achievable in 12 months.

What's everyone's goal for the year?

85.7 to 77 at 0.5-1.0 kg a week. so 12 weeks is enough.

method:
- no alcohol
- 1500 Calorie diet program
- lights out at 9pm, up by 600am (nanny nap if necessary)
- deal with stressors more directly
- life directed more by goals (1wk, & 1,3,6,12 mth goals)
- regular yoga and meditation
- 5-8 hours a week in the saddle

I'll re-iterate from the 2014 Losers thread:

Weigh-in at 105.9kg. Goal is 90kg.

Plan of attack is to cycle 3,500km this year (70km or 2 rides/week), maintain weight training, eat a little less and a little better. Stay tuned!

66Kg after lunch. So probably 65.5 if weighed in this morning, or BMI of 21.9.

My aim is to show that I can keep my BMI under 23 for more than 2 years, without doing copious amounts of exercise. I started with a BMI of ~27.4.

Plan:
- Continue with the whole food plant based diet (mainly starch).
- Continue to get a reasonably short amount of time on the bike. Probably close to 4 hours a week.
- Continue to do some other basic exercises to keep my muscle mass up, but more often this year. Like 3 times a week.
- Try to keep standing as much as possible throughout the day.

I'm in again. Refuse to weigh in wearing my super heavy sling ;) so I'll just say I want to get to 75kg this year. If I'm around that mark I'll be pleased.

And I want to stay out of hospital this year. Fingers crossed for no surgery.

Come down from 95 ->85 last year so i'll go again and aim for 75kg this year. Currently off the bike with an ITB issue at the moment, so it'll be running and swimming to start the year.

Note to self: Improve snacking habits at work.

You can run with an ITB issue? Wow...that's what made mine flare up yet riding was fine. Hopefully yours disappears soon :)

Early July 2014 was around 142.

117.3kg this week.

Goal for 2015......NFI! Will see what happens, although realistically at 192cm I'll be happy anywhere between here and high 90s.

I'd much rather if that was the case, since riding is a much funner than running.

Still only a self / 3rd party grad physio diagnosis, so it might not be ITB, bur it feels like it. Have booked in a physio appointment as soon as she opens on the 5th to get it looked at.

I had hoped to get to 90kg from 98kg last year but finished on 93.5 due to holidays over the christmas period and slacking off on the riding,
I would like to get to 85 but will start by aiming for 90kg and then reassessing.

Hovering around 81-82 kilos at the moment, i would like to hit 75 kilos to make riding uphill that little bit easier.

Currently 67.9 want to get back to 63 or below. Controversially im in the process of cutting carbs to below 30g a day and increasing my fat intake in the hope of keto-adaption. Will see how it goes over the next 6 to 8 weeks. I have shifted my focus onto long mtb endurance events for this year and away from crits. Now before durian rider comes out and rambles on about bananas, i dont really care if your 4% fat and running 16 marathons a week......

Forget about DurianRider. The last I heard Freelee has left him and he's 4kg heavier, despite his absolute belief that anyone can hoe into 3000 low fat plant Calories and not gain weight! The business model was always a tangled web.

Looking at dropping back down to 79kg from 93kg. Just have to straighten my diet up. Hopefully going back to being full vegetarian by Feb.

Does anyone who has lost weight in the past, then put it back on, want to share how it happened.
Why do you think you started overeating/drinking, or eating the wrong things?
I'm interested in whether people just get the portions wrong of healthy food choices, or get cravings for less healthy stuff.

I float between 90 and 105 most years... I can lose it pretty quickly when motivated. Usually I am at my heaviest about now in January. At the moment I am about 102. The weather is crap, winter is long and even though I ride a fair bit in winter it isn't enough, one of the reasons is in winter you spend a lot more time inside and too easy to eat!. I also work at home in the winter.
Come the first races of the season around last weekend of Feb I am usually on the right track. Once spring arrives in April I am usually dropping a kilo a week. By June I am usually around 92-94 which is pretty good for me. I can usually hold my own in flattish race by then, obviously anything with a climb and I am gone.
July / August and some of September I am riding up to 20 hours a week for work... easy to keep weight low then, although 2 months of restaurant eating makes is harder than it should be.
October I start to slump... this year has been hard as I haven't done CX, so winter motivation is difficult. Basically I steadily climb from Oct till Dec.

My diet means no junk food ... vegan, but I do like bread... hard not to here!. My aim as always is to start a season at 90 ( BMI of under 24 ) ... but I always fail
