Return to riding after Prostate removal

Postby Mustang » Wed Jan 14, 2015 8:41 pm

I did troll through the threads for this but numbering at 284 I'm not reading all of them, so apologies if this is a repeat.
I'm still battling to regain my previous strength after a prostate removal 11 months ago.
Has any other rider had this experience.?

After a major operation, and yes I believe a prostatectomy to be a major operation, it can take 12 months for the body to fully recover, and then depending on your age as long as 6 months of graduated training to fully recover your fitness.
So as far as your current recovery is concerned it is still early days.

Hi Mustang,

I had my RP 5 years ago at the age of 55, it took me around 2 years for me feel like I had fully recovered, though I still have the usual post RP life long problems, my cycling now is as strong as ever.

Hang in there and let the recovery take its course.

Thanks guys,
Im 63, so I feel as young as ever but now find the "tireds" creep up quicker than they use to.
Good to know other cyclists that have had the operation & their recovery time.
