Hi Al, how's your comeback progressing? I read that your fourth fracture had not quite healed yet as of april 14. As a card carrying member of the titanium club I can tell you that my acetabulam is almost fully healed now. It is possible again to run for short distances and cycletour again. This is after 26 months. It was the first few months only that I was physically wasted. You've already done that. I still hope you don't need an operation but with a good surgeon you can have an excellent outcome.

10mths on we still have problems.
There is still one unhealed break in the accetabellum. To further compound this issue that break has a 3mm offset. A couple of times a day the head of the femur catches on this step and either jumps over it painfully or just gets stuck in which case I usually fall over.
Unfortunately I may have no choice but have it replaced with a Birmingham hip.
We are on hold at the moment and trying to improve the bone density before we can proceed. Looking like early in the new year.
The good news is riding is good for it and seems to reduce how often it locks up. So am averaging 100-150klms/week.
Just have to be patient.

So sorry to hear that. Have you had a bone density scan done?

You can't win a break, can you Aldavid?
I can only say to try to keep your chin up and don't let the black dog take over.
Good wishes flying your way

Bone density showed less than optimal density so have been working on improving that prior to replacement. This is just a speed hump in the process I guess.
