What have you read or listened to that leads to this question?zill wrote:Doing lots of indoor riding at the moment with a big fan. However, still sweating a lot. Water is therefore accumulating on my skin when riding intensely. I'm just afraid that with the fan also blowing, it would lead to problems later on in life. Is this true?

If you are concerned about arthritis, there is a strong correlation with diet as some forms are considered an auto-immune disease. While all things fed by your vascular system can be affected by atherosclerosis in time (if you are genetically susceptible).zill wrote:My question is about problems down the line such as in your 60s. i.e joint problems.
Bike fit, stretching and supporting muscle strength are also going to be considerations.

Got to say, that research can't be argued with. It's 100% true!V8rider wrote:He's not over thinking. I was reading some research the other day that stated that 100% of people who sweat early in life, die at some point.

My Dad always told me to dry well and immediately after taking a shower. Because trying to get dry by natural methods such as in a cool breeze is not good for you. How true is it?

Well, here's a thing to really worry about. Worry itself causes serious health problems by raising stress hormones and releasing free radicals in the body that if left untreated has long term serious side effects.
Go see a cognitive behavioural therapist.

Zill, where has your info come from? Have you done some research? For example this article https://www.aad.org/public/skin-hair-na ... aging-skin
Wash your face twice a day and after sweating heavily. Perspiration, especially when wearing a hat or helmet, irritates the skin, so you want to wash your skin as soon as possible after sweating.

There is a huge resource available on the Internet before you go posting implausible stuff like that.mikesbytes wrote:Guys, try and be a bit more polite.
It doesn't take much effort to discount it. :/

This is rust.
It is caused by the reaction of iron with oxygen, typically in a damp environment.
Think what the oxygen you inhale in the damp environment of sweating on a trainer must be doing to your insides...

My apologies ... you're 100% right mb. I completely missed this comment from Zillmikesbytes wrote:Guys, try and be a bit more polite.
I'm sure Zill totally loves his Dad, but if your parents have fed you BS like this (and possibly it waszill wrote: My Dad always told me to dry well and immediately after taking a shower. Because trying to get dry by natural methods such as in a cool breeze is not good for you. How true is it?
just part of a constant stream fed to Zill), then they'll turn out pretty damaged people unable to
discriminate between fact and fiction. Turning to google will leave them even more hopelessly perplexed.
So take it a lesson for any prospective parents, grandparents and aunties or uncles, feed the off-spring
as little BS as possible ... and if you do string 'em along with a few fairy-tales (like Santa Claus),
make sure you don't play out the charade too long.
