Sun Protection for Arms

Postby jack11 » Mon Mar 21, 2016 12:35 pm

Hi All

My father has recently had a skin cancer removed from his forearm. He lives in Dubai and plays golf every weekend and is keen to keep doing so, but is concerned about sun protection for his arms. Can anyone recommend any specific sun sleeves / arm warmers that are light weight, and wont be to warm (given its often 40+ degrees in Dubai)?

Thanks in advance.

I use Sugoi arm warmers. I don't notice them to be too hot when riding in the heat but I believe you can just get an "arm sleeve" version as well to protect yourself from the sun rather than trying to be a warmer at the same time. (eg. http://ca-store.sugoi.com/collections/b ... arm-sleeve" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I use Ice Rays. They are in fact originally for golfers, and they do hand covers too.

A lot of fishing shirts are lightweight and have good sun protection levels. I know it's more than just the sleeve, but wearing without buttons done up one as a light jacket would not be out of place. I wear such a shirt while kayaking to protect my arms.

Netti sells "UV arm protectors". They feel cooler when riding than having bare arms in my experience, or at least not noticeably warmer. I use them a lot.
