I started regular cycling in November and gradually built up to modest 3x20km rides each week on my Merida 4 fitted with Crank Brothers Eggbeaters. My shoes are Lake MX101 with Crank Brothers Premium Cleats. If you are familiar with them, Crank Brothers Eggbeaters have no platform on them.
Physically, I wasn't able to be very active last year due to illness, however I am a trim 88kg and 186cm (6'2").
Over the last couple of months I've developed painful peroneal tendonitis on my right side and a mild case of the same on my left side. I start seeing a physio for tomorrow for that. My riding is paced at about 23km/hour with a 15min warm up of a slower speed ride.
I’m wondering if I had pedals with a shoe platform on that it might prevent the recurrence of the peroneal tendonitis after I recover the best I can.
Any ideas and info would be greatly appreciated.
