I take some gear down to the mouth of the Patterson River in vic. Not exactly fly fishing as I feed them more than catch them. :)

Yup, agreed!
As an insulin-dependent diabetic for the past 52 years I certainly agree - especially wrt the bicycling aspect.
Back to OZ next July-August to ride Cape York, and south to Cairns. Should be easy because the globe shows it is all down hill :D

Wake up and get cracking! Egg omelettes aside, fishing has to be a "competitive" zero-sum game afaik, and the fish certainly is on the "terminal end". OTOH, if you use a barbless hook and practice "catch and release", then you are closer to Nirvannah than you realize.

BTW, here in Doha, it is about 40C mid day and lower 30s eventide. At least the beer can be cold - at any time :wink:
