Trochanteric Bursitis (Outside Hip Pain)

Postby Harrys767 » Thu Sep 22, 2016 8:18 am

Has anyone had this condition before? How long did it take to resolve and what treatment/adjustment to your training schedule did you make?

I have a fairly lengthy week of cycling in about 7 weeks and really can't afford to lose too much time if possible, so I'm trying to ascertain what has worked best for others.

So far I've tried rest,NSAIDs (voltaren/ibuprofen), stretching, planking (forward/side), side leg raises. The pain disappears and then resumes after I have ridden again.

Thanks.

get it diagnosed properly. all too often i am referred to see people with hip bursitis that isnt there. i suspect ive probably seen a couple of real cases in 20 yrs as a physio. exclude itb and lumbar issues first.

The GP says it is bursitis. The Physio says it is itb, which is primarily what has been treated so far. Are the two not interrelated? Ie a tight itb over an inflamed bursa?

Thanks.
