Gym areas

Postby stymkow » Wed Feb 22, 2017 10:55 am

For us fair weather cyclists out there, when the weather is taking a turn for the worse, what areas of the body would be advantageous to work on at a gym? Besides cardio, would it be equal quads, glutes, calves, core etc or would one area provide more benefit than another?

There is some stuff here too:

Some stretches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvtOxWXskcg

There are a whole heap of ones you can do. Those planks in the training peaks article will help a lot, the side planks too. You can mix them up by trying to move/balance on alternate arms and legs, that is pretty helpful, but might be a bit difficult at first if you aren't used to it. Mountain climbers are also fairly good. The others are all the traditional strength exercises like squats, etc.

Box jumps are another one you can do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJHvu_hC9rg

Maybe not at that level for us mere mortals. :)
