The best saddle is one that is comfortable. Really, you should get one to try and make sure you set it up correctly. They are counter-intuitive to set up.

I have a SMP Lite 209 on 3/4 bikes. I don't have it on the bike I tend to ride without cycling shorts because it's quite uncomfortable after about 20 or 30 km.

the selle smp 209 lite for me i have it on all 3 bikes, i need a wider sdaddle so it works for my bum.

there are quite a few bike shops in melb, i am out near ringwood and le tour do it there, as well as fitzroy rev and somewhere in caufield as well

Ended up getting a SMP Glider on eBay, should arrive soon so we will see how that goes.

Still hunting... The Glider has been OK but a little narrow and still causing discomfort (numbness) on more than about 20 km.

Tried a couple of Specialized saddles, Oura and Myth. Their assometer sized my wife for a 168mm wide saddle. Both OK, but still not enough cutout in the front. Ended up getting a Spesh Power Comp, because they didn't have any for trial but it appears to tick most of the right boxes (very wide, good long cutout, etc). Might be a little firm though, but have been promised we can return it if it doesn't work out. An SMP Avant is about the last alternative, though the SMP T1 might also be good as it is nice and wide.

Went thru all the Selle test range and all the Specialised test range and could not alleviate soft tissue pain at the front end

Finally found SQ Lab.

For me it was a revelation and now go on long rides with no discomfort.
I would also recommend a proper bike fit by a professional who is not trying to sell you something

Following on from above, the Specialized Power saddle didn't last long before being rejected. Ordered an SMP Avant but got sent the wrong saddle (A Lite 209) by Wiggle.

The SQ Lab one looks interesting. That or an ISM might be the go.
