Disc brake compatible front hub motors

Postby MotoBloke » Tue Sep 02, 2014 8:42 pm

Are there 500w hub motors available that take disc brake on the same hub?
I want to run a front hub motor, and uprate the front brake to disc.
Currently I have a Cell aluminium-framed mountain bike. It's an MTX-2 hardtail model with RST Kapa suspension forks, modified with handlebars that rise an extra 10cm, mudguards, rack, slightly wider seat and skinnier road tyres ( 26 x 1.9). The front forks have the early style posts for a disc caliper, where the bolt holes are parallel to the axle. I'm guessing adapters are commonly available for employing current model calipers.
All suggestions, pointers and tips appreciated.

Yes...but I wouldn't attach it to an RST 'suspension' fork. Find yourself a steel or alloy rigid disc mount fork instead. The RST forks are wobbly, decorative boat anchors...

The disk brake adapter you will need to fit the fork will depend on a) the fork mount style (post mount or IS); b) the brand of brake you purchase; and c) the size of the brake rotor you specify.
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle

I went with a new disc braked commuter bike and a Dillenger rear hub motor. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY, SILENT...
