E-bike share in Newcastle

Postby CoffsGal » Sun May 27, 2018 8:07 am

A new e-bike share scheme has been introduced in Newcastle (NSW).

This might increase the number of bikes on the road by encouraging a new demographic to use bikes. A plus is that they come with helmets, the lack of which has previously been a deterrent to share bike use.

It will be interesting to see how it fans out, pricing wise it seems to be the middle ground between the dockless systems [are they in Newcastle?] and a taxi. Pricing looks similar to public transport

The deposit will probably mean that the users will take due care of the bikes however they are still venerable to vandalism and the rapidly disappearing helmets.

I'm thinking that its a reasonably good location to cycle with a bike path along the waterfront and if you need to head south the motor will do the work to get you over the hill.
If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?
