Oh... Not just any cyclists. "Sleepy Cyclists"... Because even if they ride the same, apparently they are less visible when sleepy.
I think the irony of who is causing the near-misses they speak of is lost on these road-hogs.

In the Indi-Pac race coverage there has snippets of truckies chatting about their extra awareness of the riders with the race on.
I did spot this anecdote of a race rider abused by truckie due to this reported near miss, got out of the cab and pushed the rider as he went past giving rider a serve.

[irony] You also have to factor in that there is all that heavy on-coming traffic out there on the Nullarbor that would make it impossible for a truckie to move over a bit to safely pass a vulnerable road user. [/irony]

The double irony is that 90% of the loads are going point to point between the outer 'burbs of Perth and Port Augusta.cj7hawk wrote:I think the irony of who is causing the near-misses they speak of is lost on these road-hogs.
That is to say, trucks are the wrong tool to move that quantity of freight that sort of distance. But when the train only does 66kph....

Yet my mate when younger and driving an 8 mtr tray truck hit a pole due to lack of sleep on his way to a fruit market.
He was only a klm from home.....Yep cyclists are the problem. The beauty of it all is that some of these fellows grow up and drive local buses, as companies give first credit to blokes with experience.
