How to build a bike path : Behind the scenes with WA’s cycle planners
WA Department of Transport’s dedicated cycling team.

Sarah Court’s job is to get you on your bike. She’s not a personal trainer. She’s not a mental health advocate. Nor is she an environmental activist.

Instead, Court is a member of the WA Department of Transport’s dedicated cycling team.

Her goal? To have more of us - not just the fearless - take to the paths and streets on two wheels by developing well-thought out cycling routes.

“We’re trying to provide infrastructure that everyone would feel comfortable riding on,” says Court.

“That could be a shared path, a protected bicycle lane, a safe active street, or a fully separated cycleway.”
Nothing exciting but nice to see the RAC WA coming back into this space. They've been a bit quiet since 2015.

Nice find, my thought amongst the RAC demographic in a 6 oclock news sense was "feel good human interest piece". Leaves me warm and fuzzy before driving off for a non-recyclable cup barista drive through coffee ;)

"That could be a shared path, a protected bicycle lane, a safe active street, or a fully separated cycleway.”

Doesn't seem normal urban or rural roads (being 99+% of possible routes) are candidates for bicycle riding then? "Infrastructure" is appreciated but encouraging drivers not to be morons would be even more effective

Considering there’s no incentive for RAC to promote cycling, I thought it was good. A step forward.
