Is there any bike you haven't had?rheicel wrote:Nice one flex. I am missing my propel now.
I rebuilt the TCR Advanced SL3 I had:
It used to be Ultegra Di2 10 speed - but I ended up using that for the TT bike. So it is now something like a TCR SL1 (but a bit better).
54cm, 110mm Contact SLR stem, 38cm contact SLR bars, Fizik Arione R3 braided carbon saddle, Dura Ace 9000 53-39T 172.5mm, 11-25, Dura Ace 9000 carbon pedals, Planet X Ultralight CNC brakes, Giant PSLR wheels. Since that photo above I got hold of the saddle clamp spacers and raised the saiddle to the right height and also tilted the bars forward a bit. Really like this bike. It has mostly been getting commuter kilometres on it so far - and running very nicely. Really like the 110mm stem, wish it was angled down a bit more to be honest. 38cm bars are also pretty awesome. Going back to 42cm on any other bike feels really odd.
I'm thinking to get some Shimano WH-9000 C24 or C35 tubulars to go on it, then the Giant wheels on this one can go back on the SL1.
That is extremely nice.lannes wrote:My latest Giant, using Fouriers CNC brakes

Heaps. I only had 30 in the last 3 years. But then again, the only brand new one I had was the Trek 4300MTB. All the other ones are cheap second hand bikes or frames that I built to fulfil my addictiong-boaf wrote:Is there any bike you haven't had?rheicel wrote:Nice one flex. I am missing my propel now.

Thanks. I'm enjoying it. It is running sweet. I ended up swapping stages power onto it from my other TCR SL1.JdM wrote:Nice frame there boaf
I was shocked today to see another SL3. They are fairly uncommon.

They are both very sweet. But the SL3 being a custom build - I could tweak it just how I wanted it. Between the two, 38cm bars on the SL3 win every time. When you go back to something with 42cm bars, it feels odd.

38cm is correct for me - my arms are straight. I knew I should have them, but when you are buying a bike straight away, getting the bars changed from something already built is more of a bother.

Yep, my shoulder width is about 39cm, so I think I'll be good with either.g-boaf wrote:It depends on your body and size. Wider bars have me with my arms angled out - you can see it easily.

The SL3 is looking like it will get Xentis 2.5 wheels or Enve SES 3.4. I'm encouraged by a lot of reports of the Enves being quite durable. The Xentis ones are very light, but I don't find a lot of reports on them. And is that braking surface really as tough as they claim?

So after commuting for the week, hopping back on the Propel for a weekend ride was brilliant! The Defy is an awesome commuter, really happy I got it, and it makes me appreciate the Propel even more. So win, win really.

I got my propel back from the shop last night and after 2 weeks of riding my 14kg Norco commuter (Including up Mt Donna last weekend) i cant wait to take her out! I lifted it last night and i'm pretty sure it's 3 kilos lighter than it was when i put in in!Bourney wrote: So after commuting for the week, hopping back on the Propel for a weekend ride was brilliant!
