Giant Anthem Advanced
Postby Becksisbest » Wed Jul 06, 2016 5:41 pm
After some advice. I have just purchased a Giant Anthem Advance 29er and all I am hearing now is that the frames are prone to cracking. I was thinking between the Scott Spark 910 and the Anthem but went with Giant due to their lifetime frame warranty. Have I stuffed up with my decision lol ?

Depends how you ride it. While not totally immune from problems, the carbon frames are far less prone to cracking than the aluminium ones; they're a bit beefier in the top tube/seat tube junction, which is the problem area.
The problems typically occur for riders who are at the tall end of the height range for a given frame size, so have a lot of seatpost out, which exerts a lot of leverage on the joint, and also riders who tend to stay seated through the rough stuff, which addsto the leverage.
If you're not excessively long of leg for your height, and unweight the seatpost through the lumpies then you shouldn't have a problem.

I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
