BNA Slow? here is why
Postby AUbicycles » Tue May 20, 2014 8:56 pm
There was a massive wave of hacking attempts to break into BNA and this always causes problems for genuine visitors and members of the site. I am trying to get on top of it but wanted to share that it is again those naughty running an automated hack attempt. Don't know what they would want with a pool of cycling knowledge.

If so, like the other famous multi-millionaire Canadian, sorry Australian, one, they're total parasites on society.
Thanks for the explanation Chris - saves us wondering whether it's something slowing our PC's or internet
connections.

on another similar note, when using the 'subsilver2' theme instead of the standard 'prosilver' it makes every page much slower to load (and that's multiple tries at it, not just today)

All of my efforts suggest a network error beyond BNA, one of the services we use with an inbuilt error - of course I spoke to all of them and none of them had issues (they say).

A running gag on another forum I very occasionally frequent is that the site is powered by a hamster in one of those running wheel things. When it suffers from one of its frequent breakdowns the excuse is that someone forgot to feed the hamster.
So maybe we're also hamster-powered, and our hamster just needs a feed.

One thing I did was block a 'crawler' that was sucking out a lot although I have a feeling that the problem is elsewhere... so, lets check out solution #7322
