Re: New Forum Design

Why is marking the site read more difficult now? After going through the unread posts and reading any that interest me I have to click on the home button / link. Next I have to select mark site as read from the Forum tools menu. If I just go up to Forum tools the menu entry to mark the site as read is not there.

Marking the site as read was quicker and easier to do in the previous forum software.

eldavo - nice suggestion. Will re-read the suggestion a few times and then look into this.

3DKiwi, there have been a few changes but I think I have the solution you are after. The difficulty marking forums as 'read' was raised very early so a change was made to make it more easily accessible and usable.

The following image should explain it.

eldavo, I have added instagram already. Take a look and get back if you have any comments.

You need the URL and to extract the 'unique identifier' from that.

Thanks for the reply. That only works if you're browsing the forums going through forum by forum. The way I browse is to click on "Unread Posts" and then only read posts / topics that interest me. I then only get a list of new replies / new topics but from all of the forums. I'm forced to go back to home the forums tools to mark the forums as read.

Got it - I will see if I can build in this option although it may be a bit tricky as it is a different template.

Thanks Chris I replied with the steps in that thread as I did it, works a charm from mobile, and even easier for desktop now than it was before.

I've found a defect that hasn't been listed above (only had a quick scan through this thread).

Using Chrome on Windows 10 here.
When I try to make a reply (using Quick Reply in this instance)
I have typed enough rows into this resizeable textbox to make it auto-resize

then I hit the page-down button (it was an accidental press first time)

This will cause the whole page to shift to the left (instead of the main text being in the centre of the page).

A bit annoying, but can be worked around by hitting the Full Editor & Preview button if one cares to do so.

Suspect it might be hiding some other formatting issues.

Not sure if epanyone else has noticed, URL links seem to be a bit hit and miss for opening in a new window/tab. Sometimes I get a new window, other times it opens in the same window.

yep - if it is a new link - it should work with a new window. Some old links were not formatted with the new window.

Very much nitpicking here, but the little icons to the left of "Forum Start" and "Forum Tools" seem to be transposed.
Life goes on with them like that, but still......

Yes.. well spotted and I don't know why I didn't pick it up earlier.

Sometimes when changes are made and the cache saves old or temporary versions, it is easy to miss. I will get this sorted so that you can again sleep peacefully :)
