Fair price for a used CR1?

Postby Mububban » Mon Aug 29, 2016 11:41 am

Browsing Gumtree I saw this: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/erskine/ ... 1122456376

Can anyone tell what year it is by the colours/graphics? And how much one of these would have cost new? Is $1000 a fair price?

I'm starting to research for an endurance road bike and looking at what's available second hand to get more bang for the limited buck. I'd appreciate any advice as Scott isn't a brand I'm familiar with.

you could try contacting Scott or the Aussie distro on Facebook for model year.

drivetrain looks similar to the styling of the ultegra 6600 on my scott S10 (2009), judging by the rear mech and shape of the cranks, so maybe 2009, 2010(???) but not 100% on that . I think the cranks are one level below 105, so they could be one of the cheaper models shimano have made for a long time.

Not sure if stem is stock.

seller appears to have put bike in biggest rear cog and large chainwheel, which is a bit of a no-no.

someone on eBay selling their 2013 CR1 for $980

It's a 2011, and has last gen 105 (5700) had one just like it for a while. It's a decent bike, a lot of flex in the frame iirc. The stock seat is atrocious so you'll probably want to upgrade that at least.
