Looking at pulling the trigger on a Ribble 7005 CX and fork (frame $155, fork $120).

Does anyone have one of these?
I would be looking at it mostly for commuting, but the real possibility of some low-grade races looms in my future. Looks like they have a guard/rack mount boss just above the rear dropout, and on the forks. I'm happy with canti's, I can set them up pretty well, and discs would mean I have to get a new wheelset anyway (not happening).
Thoughts? Comparative models available?

That's a smoking hot deal...
Planet X sometimes does something similar but at the moment they only have an XL road frameset for that money.
However, if you can manage it (ie. if they'll send one to Sydney) then you might want to check out this http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/hybrid ... /102557245" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or this http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/flat-b ... /102557241" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and pair it with a Kinesis alu/carbon (or even full carbon) CX fork from the UK
There's more to pick from http://www.bikeexchange.com.au/bike_sho ... y=cheapest" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Did you end up getting one? I'm getting impatient trying to find a fame locally that has canti brakes for a decent price, this is looking like a tempting option.

No, I didn't end up buying. A coming shift in circumstances meant no bikes incoming for at least 3 months. Given the huge rise in disc CX framesets, surely there will be a bit of a mass offload of canti-CX frames?!

That's what I'm hoping! A good set of canti's is fine for me. I'm hoping somebody wants to sell off a good condition or NOS etc carbon frame for a bargain...

Just bought new '13 Crux alu frame from these guys, not sure how cheap they will go on this one but could be worth a try if it fits.

I bought a 2013 Mares CX frameset around a month ago from Chilli - great value and very nice frame. I built it with Ultegra6700, but am now waiting for 6800 shifters and derailleurs, so all my bikes are running the same group.
I reckon people are correct - the dominance of the disc framesets will reduce the prices of the canti framesets and bring about many bargains!
cheers

Agreed. I paid $700 for my Colnago - guy had used it briefly as a commuter, but as it was one of a number of bikes he rode it was almost still new!macca33 wrote:I reckon people are correct - the dominance of the disc framesets will reduce the prices of the canti framesets and bring about many bargains!
