Or just get a recumbent.

Edit: I was under the impression that fairings on bikes had been banned in WA. This wouldn't have been a problem with a recumbent bike but then you're already more aerodynamic than the above pictured road bike and fairing with the added bonus of not needing to scrunch down behind the fairing. And if the fairing was only there to keep your hands warm a good handlebar would do better.

Miles Racing Scented Brake Pads

Image
We were offered a review on the Sardine Shart scented pads, but politely declined. Apparently these ones are selling like crazy in Finland.

German manufacturer Miles Racing has finally launched their range of top-end aftermarket brake pads into the Australian market. The highly-acclaimed pads, which have already won a number of European shootouts, will be available in semi-metallic, sintered metal and new scented compounds, for all popular models of brakes and many more obscure makes too.

The fragrance, which is only released in the presence of heat, should last the life of the pad, and regular cross-country riding is apparently enough to get a whiff of them. The thinking behind the pads is (Google Translated from the all-German language Miles Racing website) “for the creation of pleasant cycling environments making extra motivation on ascents with thankings to the smelling rewards and hair coats.” There are eight different scents available worldwide, though not all will be coming to Australia:

Frangipani Sunset
Baking Bread
Blue Cheese and Moose
Asparagus Morning
Durian Delight
Sausage Sizzle
Sardine Shart
Kimchi Disaster

I'll have mine in a shade of sunburnt pink with short hemp tassels hanging out the bottom of it...

As for the pads...yeah.
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle

Just completed a tour with the Anker as my charger.
Fantastic to be able to charge my iPad, iPhone, bike computer, backup battery and camera all at the same time in a backpacker room with only one power outlet.

looks like sram has some new geared gear on the shelves.
I'm particularly interested in the 10-42t 11 spd cassette .... sounds like just the thing to solve the problem of squeezing a better gear ratio out of your rig when adding a derailleur isn't an option

You will still need an XD Driver from my reading which means you need a compatible hub as well. This is where I got caught out as the "free" hub that came with my Salsa Mukluk is not their Fat Conversion Hub.

That said it is good to see the options here are growing and coming down in price.

This Hermanns light looks good. $23 is pretty decent price and it says free delivery on most international orders but the link ain't working at the moment. EDIT. Link works now

I really like B+M stuff but I have had bad luck with B+M topline lights. First one failed and they eventually replaced it. Apparently there was a batch with bad capacitors. The replacement was about 12 months old and now the stand light doesn't work.

A litle irrelevant, but I was amazed to see on my recent tour, that the Hermanns tail-light was still giving off a perceptible standlight about 2 hours after I had stopped riding

The toplight has a button to turn it off at your destination.

Yeah, I had the same issues with both a Viewplus and a Topline, the standlights failed pretty quickly.

Yep, it does this for a loooong time. I usually get into work around 8:00am and when I first got this light I had people coming into my office at morning tea time telling me I'd left my lights on!

The Bushwalkers on their forum have been singing the praises of these Xiaomi 16000mAh batteries.
On special at $39.95 inc. freight. Good value and decent quality apparently;

Not fussed about the Ti but being a user of these kinds of pedals I love the look and they are sure to be lighter than the typical 500g + platform pedal.

If drivers and riders spent more time worrying about their responsibilities than their rights then roads would be far safer.
