Might have to consider something like those fir my next trip. Was thinking of trying flats again, but depending how they feel they could work perfectly.

Only asked because it didn't show up on Supernova's website.

Should have just gone to the Specialized page.

Well, it's not new gear but it is interesting (to me at least)...

Bikebug are stocking Ortlieb!

I think this is a new thing, so forgive me if I'm mistaken. I seem to think they might have once had a very small range but they now appear to have expanded it...

I will agreed with you on this, the range of Ortlieb bags that Bikebug are now stocking in very interesting indeed. :)

Giant have often had such bikes* on their range. Just that they are almost never stocked by local shops in Australia.

That's interesting...I never realised they made a Rohloff fitted bike.

Targeted at the German market. The 'Ultimate Bush-bashers' too, judging by the chainwheel guard and the scrub-guards protecting hands on the brake levers.

So much untamed bush in the German countryside.

German cyclists are pretty big in world adventure cycling pursuits - cycling the Amazon, Tierra del Fuego, or the Tibetan Plateau.

Now that's bikepacking !
You'd want to remember where everything is packed.

And something different: Garmin recently brought out the Varia smart headlight, only works with their Edge 1000 GPS and uses batteries so barely useful for touring. Then you see this
"Works independently and seamlessly integrates with compatible Edge® cycling computers.
As rider’s speed increases, the headlight automatically projects further ahead or closer as a rider’s speed decreases when paired with select Edge computers.
As light conditions change, the smart Varia headlights and tail light automatically get brighter or dimmer, when paired with a light-sensing Edge 1000
Adjustments, including on/off, can be made manually with the use of an included remote
With 2 tail lights you can indicate impending right or left turns".
Image
Not a product that I'd buy considering the price and that my B&M Luxos dynamo headlight already has lighting and brightness adjusted with speed however something to watch out for as other bike lights become 'smarter'.

I jumped in on the Kickstarter for this and they have now (finally!!!) arrived.

Haven't had a ride with them yet, but they were easy to install and worked when I gave the wheels a spin. I'll be sure to write up a review once I've tested them out fully.

They don't appear to have frames to sell as yet. Sorry, my bad, their website huntbikes.com says they sold out but you can get t-shirts that say "Hunt" (but should say 'I came to this website for a bike and all I got was a lousy t-shirt').

I noticed they travel with the Mocan Bros of Canberra, hipster coffee shop owners and makers of unusual bikes under the name Goodspeed Bicycles Co.

The video was very hipster with no helmets and woolen jumpers and cut off shorts.

I just like the look of the frame and the ability to take 29+.

But the $1200 price will have me looking at the ECR once again.

Just waiting for my current 29er to give up. It's a Trek with 6500kms on it so surely it wont be too long :D

The way I read that Hunt Bikes website is that the frame is coming soon, not sold out.

I think they did a prototype run and that's sold out.

Not the lightest but burns on sticks, pine cones etc and the heat produces energy to charge certain devices...

Not so good at times of total fire ban.
If there was a methane-powered version then maybe I could use some of the people I ride with to recharge my devices. You could name the model 'the Backdraft'.
